Fishing with kids to catch a big barra.

Making memories fishing with kids

Fishing with kids is both challenging and hilarious.

Earlier this year we did a delightful blog post with our 7 year old neighbor Mason.

We met Mason at the ANZAC day dawn service after he confidently approached us exclaiming, “Hi Ryan Moody, I watch all your videos” before parroting “I’m Ryan Moody helping you fish smarter not harder.”

Hard not to adopt him after that haha.

So he helped us with our blog post on a rod tip repair and we promised to take him fishing and catch a barra.

Having three children myself I’m no stranger to fishing with kids and find it hugely entertaining.

Especially when they catch a decent fish.

Fishing with kids when fish bigger than the kid!

Sometimes the fish is bigger than the kid! Here’s Lockie Ford with a 103 cm barra with help from his Grandad to hold it up.

So just before the barra closure we took young Mason fishing.

Watching him catch his first barra was even more delightful than our first meeting.

Watch our heart-warming day with Mason catching his first decent barra after waiting for what must have seemed like an eternity.

We love fishing with kids!

Living a fruitful life to us is getting into the great outdoors and spending time with family!

For little kids with a short attention span, catching crabs in the mangroves can be entertaining, wear them out and great bait!

Catch more fish in less time with our fishing tips and courses.

Here at Ryan Moody Fishing, we reckon kids should be outdoors and not behind computer screens and it’s one of THE main drivers behind our Fish Smarter online fishing courses.

So many Dads (and a few Mums) do the courses to go fishing with their kids and make the most amazing memories putting the info into practice.

We absolutely love helping anglers catch more fish in less time.

And hanging out with great kids like Mason.

If you want to take your fishing game to the next level, consider one of our Fish Smarter online fishing courses.

About The Author

Ryan Moody

Ryan Moody started his fishing career on the reef boats before catching bucket list marlin for the likes of champion heavy tackle angler Johnno Johnson, INXS and the King of Sweden. Branching out in the late 80's to guided barramundi fishing, Ryan has made a name for himself as a Big Barramundi specialist and to date has put clients onto over 2000 metre plus barra. That is over 2 kilometres of metre plus barra! With attitudes changing from 'keep all you can' towards catch and release, Ryan has decided to share his extensive knowledge and hopefully inspire people of all ages to get out from behind the computer screen/TV and into the fishing outdoors lifestyle he has spent his life perfecting.
