A couple of days ago I met 7 year old Mason at the dawn service and noticed his rod tip was in need of a rod tip repair.

It’s so easy to crack the ceramics in your guides, especially the rod tip necessitating a rod tip repair.
Quite often cracks and chips are pretty hard to see. Best bet is to run your fingernail over the guide.
You’ll feel any cracks easily and put it on the list for replacement.
If you don’t replace the guide however, your line can catch on the sharp edge and snap.
That trophy fish you’ve wanted all your life will be gone. Because the more load on the line, the more likely this is to happen.
All because you failed to do a simple rod tip repair.
Yes Murphy’s Law. It won’t happen reeling in a tiddler. It’ll wait till you hook something SOLID.
Preparation really is key when it comes to catching good fish.
Looking after your guides and line rollers, setting your drag correctly and learning how to tie a wind on leader system are all important parts of the process.
It’s not good enough simply to use the right gear.
Keeping your drag nice and smooth is also a necessity.
Doing a rod tip repair is so simple a kid can do it!
