A great alternative to vibing is the sinking stick bait. They can be manipulated while jigging to mimic injured bait using various techniques. They have a horizontal shimmer on the fall which is deadly on all manner of bottom dwellers.

I’ve trialed many stick baits for this application in my time as a professional fishing guide, and these are by far the most outstanding performers.
They can be used in the estuaries for barramundi, fingermark and threadfin Salmon. I’ve used the 36 g out as deep as 35 metres chasing large-mouth Nannygai (red snapper) and other deeper reef species with little current. They are so deadly that I developed the 36 g for deeper applications.
The other benefit is they can be used as a metal slice. If the pelagics start busting up around you, just cast it out and crank it back as you would a metal slice.
Pillager is a great versatile all-rounder with upgraded 4X hooks and split rings.

Hello, I live in new Caledonia & recently ordered these little lures. I already tried them on the reef & lagoon. I’ve caught bleu cods, coral trouts, other cods we have here. They just love them! Amazing little lure. Cast them next to the bommies where the trouts stay on the sandy bottom & let the lure sink. I worked out that it sinks about 1 meter a second. Make sure the reel is ready because the trouts stike when the lure is on the way down, not tahat much when you are retieving. The Pillager really works where other lures don’t.

Pillagers are incredible, hands down my favourite lure. Particularly loving the bicolour 36g, picked up 3 cracking coral trout off 5 drops until the tax man decided he wanted it moreðŸ˜

I never used stick baits before. Awesome lure, managed to land this Jewie and dropped a nice Barra on the previous trip. Pillager is one of the first lures I cast out now.

These lures catch….. something always going to happen when you starting fishing with these. I caught a 80 cm Barra when nothing else worked
