Where is Hinchinbrook?
Hinchinbrook is a generic term for the area surrounding world heritage listed Hinchinbrook Island in tropical North Queensland, Australia. The island is quite large (430 square kilometres) and the fishing can be accessed at several places. We generally launch from Port Hinchinbrook boat ramp, located by the quaint seaside village of Cardwell. Cardwell is half way between Townsville to the south and Cairns to the north and is about 170km from both of these cities. The Hinchinbrook Channel has been closed to commercial fishing since 1998 and the area has been voted the most scenic fishing destination in Australia. We have it all. Great fishing amidst spectacular scenery.
How do I get to Cardwell?
Both Cairns and Townsville have domestic airports and you can fly into either. From there most clients hire a vehicle. Alternatively a greyhound bus service runs four times a day and Queensland Rail run a train service 5 days per week to Cardwell from both Townsville and Cairns.
Greyhound bus bookings can be made here.
Information on rail services can be found here.
